In the following video, Professor Janice Fiamango, from the University of Ottawa in Canada, eloquently explains What is the gender empathy gap? (or, the compassion gap)

and how does the high sensitivity we have as a society to the suffering of women and girls manifest itself, compared to the low sensitivity of society to the suffering of men and boys? She offers possible explanations for the gap and calls on us to pay attention to it, so that we can change the less compassionate attitude towards boys and men, and thus change reality for the better.

Are the authorities more forgiving towards women's offenses than men's?

In the Israeli legal system, there is clear and long-standing discrimination between men and women who violate the same law, and under the same circumstances, as the jurist Dr. Yoav Maza tells us in the following fascinating lecture:

Do the laws of the State of Israel sexually discriminate against men?

A review of the law book indeed shows that almost all the laws that sexually discriminate today discriminate against men and not women. Starting from pension laws, through taxation laws, the length of military service, parenting laws, alimony laws, the Presumption of Early Age Law, discrimination in the ketubah and a long list of laws, all of which discriminate against one sex - men. Even in 2023, these laws are still valid and influential in the most important areas of life and have not yet been repealed.

Is sexual discrimination in law unique to Israel?

Sexual discrimination has also been studied internationally, and its findings are surprising and unfortunate. Here are some of them:

A. The US Department of Justice initiated a study examining trial and sentencing data for the crime of spousal homicide,

and summarized the findings in a consolidated report. Among other things, it was found that after examining and comparing virtually similar circumstances and backgrounds, while the percentage of women sentenced to prison is 57%, it can be seen that the percentage of men sentenced to prison is 81%, and while the average prison term for women was only 6 years, the average prison term for men was 16.5 years.

Again, we emphasize – this is the same offense, and under the same circumstances.

B. In a study conducted by Professor Sonia Starr, from the Faculty of Law at the University of Michigan,

it was found that after comparing variables such as personal background, criminal history, and more, "men received temporary 63% longer prison sentences than women for the same offenses." And women are twice as likely to avoid prison altogether, if convicted of the act. She found that the gender gap is six times larger than the racial gap that Professor Starr found in her previous study on racial sentencing disparities.

The root of the phenomenon is the Gender Empathy Gap, which explains why we are more compassionate towards the suffering of women, than towards the suffering of men.

Dr. Jordan Peterson in a short and fascinating interview on the concept of patriarchy in feminist theory.

Peterson explains how both sexes were affected by their gender roles, in a way that also included suffering for both sexes, completely different from what we are told:
